haha, seriously… I’m so paranoid of heat damage because of how it destroyed my hair! Maybe I’m a little over the top, but hey, better safe than sorry … and thanks!
I have been stuck at an inch or two past my shoulders all of my adult life…so tired of that length and I think your tips will help me acheive the bsl I have been trying for many years now. Thanks!
The Heat protexx is very light and misty so it doesn’t make your hair wet to the touch at all! Of course, you shouldn’t go crazy spraying it, either I don’t notice much of a difference in the way my hair ‘feels’ before and after as a result of the heat protexx, but it just makes me feel better that I’m doing all I can to prevent damage. And also, my hair after flat ironing, because I don’t use a lot of product, is always light and silky rather than greasy and weighed down
Hi JTG1, I am looking for a better heat protectant. I was told that heat protectants that contain water are better for the hair. My question is: does the Nexxus make the hair wet? How does the hair feel after you apply it and after you flat iron? Thanks for your help!
I think the stiffness comes from using too much product on your hair, particularly oils and grease. When you flat iron your hair, its better to do it on clean hair. I use only a light moisturizer and a heat protectant. Also, keep your ends freshly trimmed, and I think that will also bring back some of your “swing”!
I love how your hair stays down when you flat iron. Everytime I flat Iron it turns out kind of stiff and doesn’t flow all that well. you know like when I bend my head, my ponytail doesn’t come down lol it sticks out (hate that). Do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of that?
Try to clean the burnt part with soap and warm water. Rubbing alcohol will also help to remove product build-up. If you have burnt stuff on your flat iron to begin with, it’s probably due to having it on a too high heat setting and using it on hair with a lot of product on it. Try to flat iron only after your hair is freshly washed, use a lower heat setting and of course, don’t forget your heat protectant! good luck.
Hi i have a good flat iron i have used from time to time it looks burned tho from leaving it on when iam not using it i have to wait awhile to get a new one tho but my question is is it ok to still use it will it damage my hair?
Definitely go with a heat protectant! Usually they are light serums or sprays that won’t leave your hair feeling greasy, but the ingredients will coat the shaft of your hair long enough to block damage from the direct heat of the flat iron. Oil sheen does absolutely nothing except give artificial shine and make your hair weighed down and greasy after you use too much!
Quick question, I have a conair ceramic flat iron..When I would go to the shop to get my hair done every now and then and the stylist would flat iron my hair she would spray oil sheen on each section before she did it. I dont like my hair greasy and I dont use grease. Is the heat protectant safer than just oil sheen cuz it seems like the iron would sizzle when she did it.
Thanks! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the videos. But, don’t worry, the journey to healthy hair is worth it. It takes patience and TLC, but your hair can be healthy and it CAN grow! Follow healthy haircare practices and you’ll get there…

Just detangled, applied leave in and a little serum, and let it dry hanging straight down like you see it here.
Your hair air dryed nicely, how did you get it to air dry like that?
Thanks! I’ll try that! : D

Not currently, but I was a member for 2 years at LHCF
Are you on any of the ning hair care boards
Thank you! I really try to do that, but ya’ll should let me know if there’s ever anything that I’m not explaining as well also
That air drying before you blow dry is a really good tip. You take your time to explain everything in your video and I love that.
