By the way a GVP is a good flat iron girl, as long as the plates are not scratched. It is just as good as the CHI, cost $59.99. The GVP was my first good flat iron, then I got the SEDU, then the CHI then the
FHI. I still use the GVP on my clients at school, works great.

How has it been transitioning? I am thinking of doing it as well but my nape area is shaved and I am kind of terrified? Any suggestions?

I would say that your beset heat protectant would be to always deep condition your hair. As of now I am using CHI infra treament which is a moisture treatment and heat protectant. I also use CHI silk infusion. I have also heard great things about Tresemme, fantasia IC heat protectant, Beyond the Zone (turn up the heat), biosilk, and paul mitchell’s super skinny serum. It would be best to shop around and see what you like, because what works for someone else might not work for you.

ok dats good lol…can u give me a lil list of some good heat protectants esp for black hair??? I have no idea of what 2 use on my hair lol dats why i jus go 2 da shop…

Of course it can be done with a curling iron. To prevent some of that damage you should use a heat protectant.

hey i love your outcome…but i have a question. I’m afircan american & my hair is thick & fine…so everytime i use a flat iron my hair ends up with some type of damage to it…but a curling works better on my hair…I wanted 2 kno can I feather my hair with a curling iron or does feathering work better with flat iron….cuz honestly im tired of roller sets lol…i had my hair cut in2 an a-line bob…& im tryin 2 avoid as much damage as I can since I’m fina grow my hair back out…

I have been transitioning to become natural for 17 months. I have not had a relaxer since April 19, 2008 to be exact.

Your hair is so thick and healthy looking. Are you relaxed or natural?
